Earlier this year I very proudly declared that I did not enjoy working on canvas and paper was my preferred surface to work on. I love working on paper. It works for all of my favorite mediums and it's easy to store away while I work or while I wait to sell a piece.
Ahead of a recent art show, I was asked to make a signbwith a very cryptic message. I had less than 2 hours to put it together and since it needed to sit outside, I decided to use one of the unused canvases languishing around the studio.
Since this was a problem that needed a fast solution, I went with spray paint and stencils and I find the result absolute stunning.
And now I can't get it out of my mind. So…I decided to do it again. 😜
Without an event, I need a message so Prince came to my rescue.
After adding flowers and foliage, I am really falling in love with the look of this piece. Working on canvas is still a bit of a struggle for me but I'm always thinking about the next piece in this series.
I call this a successful venture into a future of working on canvas…hopefully…maybe.
